Kinsouth 2018

Fortune and the forces have worked to bring me Kinsouth’s new place already. It will be a bit of a pilgrimage this year but it’s worth it.

So far the date is set for the weekend of September 20, 22, somewhere around there near the moon. I know Kinsouth is usually set in October, but that date was set for a couple of reasons – none of which are necessary anymore. I’d rather it follow the moon around that time, and this is the moon we chose.

It’s too early to start putting up information on things, but know the spot is lovely. And will be worth the drive, we hope.

Kinsouth 2017

It was a wee bit harder to set up this year than usual, but Kinsouth’s 2017 Allthing has set dates and a down payment on where we’re gonna go.

In order to preserve the magick of Kinsouth, I once again aimed Southward. This time we’re going to land in Kentucky outside of Lexington.

For some reason people seem to think that Kinsouth is about roughing it. Not exactly… I can sort of see where the impression came from – we were roughing it in the beginning but those early circumstances were mostly due to finances. This year after much searching I found a two bedroom cabin. It’s a bit on the expensive side, but due to the fulfillment of last year’s wishes we can afford it right now. Putting back part of your harvest as an investment and thanks is an age-old tradition anyway, if I REALLY have to excuse that.

I often say that Kinsouth was Hogwarts before Harry Potter was published, because the main point to it was always to take something metaphysical and practice it somehow. Or at least do something besides the wish ritual, which of course is Allthing’s main point. To wish for all of the things.

So with that in mind the focus(es) is/are:

  1. Forest bathing. Now… we do that every year just about anyway without thinking about it. Really forest bathing is just the new fangled way of saying “getting back to nature”. Either way, being in the forest (not a park) is scientifically proven to be a healing experience. Which means for all subsequent years I’m going to always be searching for a forest to have Kinsouth in. I dream of the day I can have my own acreage of land for this.
  2. The Mantell UFO incident. If you don’t know about that, the year was 1948 and a UFO appeared while some young pilots were out on training maneuvers. They were tasked to follow it. One died in pursuit. For our Saturday metaphysical excursion we will be visiting his memorial marker, which is located about an hour away. You can find a report on the incident here. Information bout the memorial marker is here.
  3. The usual card reading, pendulum swinging and other nifty things that come up. Not all of Kinsouth is metaphysical, but it has its moments.
  4. The wish ritual. We may adapt it to happen in a hot tub this year if the group is small enough. (I.E. just the hubby and me.)

Speaking of the wish ritual, there is a disturbing trend where people are finding out when I am performing ritual and they’re doing things to basically join in from home. It’s not meant to be this way in the circumstances of some who can’t make it in person, but this is a form of freeloading. I will not be telling anyone the hour I do ritual this year. If you want a wish ritual, perform your own and do it under your own magick.

You will have to remember, though. There is a very big something to Kinsouth you have to do that actually sets the power in place for you. I have noticed without saying anything that those who not do this have diminished effects or no effects at all. Those who do it the most have the greater reward. This would be the pilgrimage.

Almost always people have to travel to get to Kinsouth. Even I, who hosts the thing, have had to travel most of the time. No I don’t travel far… it’s not the length of the journey. It’s the willingness to actually MAKE it that matters, and whether you can follow through without allowing that circumstance to get in the way.

When you’re going somewhere, your mind is on your destination on at least a subconscious level if not at the forefront of your mind. This means that during your entire journey, your mind body and soul are preparing for the Kinsouth weekend. Think of it as building a magical charge, one that you will expel on the wish ritual. You have to make that pilgrimage, or no charge. Or at least, not a charge that’s compatible with what’s going on.

Kinsouth’s power has really come back ever since I began to dump freeloaders and backstabbers to keep it together the way it was meant to be. Even if it’s just me in the forest, I enjoy it a lot more this way as well. ‘Nuff said on that.

I’m looking forward to Kinsouth this year. But I always do. I hope this is THE area I’ve been searching for; the one where Kinsouth stays. But we shall see.

Kinsouth 2016

Is next weekend!

The date and location were not disclosed publicly on purpose. If you had wanted to come, you should have contacted me personally.

In the meantime we are very much looking forward to our yearly ritual weekend despite the angst and drama surrounding the current Presidential debates. Our wishes from last year came true so spectacularly, we’re hard put to figure out what to wish for this year.

However there is one caveat: can’t be greedy. There’s a story about a monkey’s paw all participants should read if they don’t know about it.

We’re also looking forward to the location, which is south of us as per KinSOUTH Allthing tradition. We have a cabin this year in a very nice location. On Friday we’ll be doing some ghost hunting for our metaphysical activity, and one of our attendees is going to be a reincarnated dog. Fun!

The New Year 2016

Even though it was just me and the hubby and a dog last year (and a vision that sent me home early), the wishes that happened at Kinsouth were fulfilled stronger than ever. For me, I had made a wish to be able to make more music and the house is filled not just with music (which we all could make wish or no wish) but a piano, several musical instruments, and long distant contact with an excellent musical influence – all things I couldn’t get before. Not enough funds. But as per Kinsouth Allthing tradition they just fell in my lap, and for this good energy and yearly ability I am grateful.

So even though the usual month for it is about 4 to 5 moons away I am thinking of where to go this year. I have realized that roughing it isn’t necessary, and maybe I’m just getting old and cranky but I like trying different things every year. There was one year a few years ago that we stayed in a yurtz – which was interesting.

This year I’m thinking of a cabin. There are some cabins nearby that aren’t too TOO expensive – not if I start saving aside for it now.

So this is the current tentative camp area:

I’m also going to follow the camping time closer to the moon itself. I haven’t been able to do that in the past because I was always bowing to what others claimed they wanted and needed. Last year was the first time in a long time I got to go with the flow as it was supposed to go, and the bounty this year was so wonderful I doubt I will ever bow to idiot claims again. Whose planning this thing anyway?

So more to come yet on dates and such.

Kinsouth’s Allthing 2015

I haven’t done a lot to prep up for place a date for this year’s Kinsouth. It’s going to be a very very private affair this year due to some internal politics from people that, really, I should have known better from all the other time they played their sabotage games. So if you’re going to Kinsouth this year, count yourself lucky. I’m not doing a lot to promote it.

But the yearly reconnect and wish ritual will happen, even as I often say if I had to do it by myself. Having people in the circle and having fun is only part of the point. The other part has become a matter of reaffirmation; something that’s very important. Grounding. Centering. Just flat out taking a break from the rest of the world.

I will be bringing a book with me this year. I can’t decide if I want it to be about government corruption or astrotheology. I’m leaning towards astrotheology.

The date depends on one person who may or may not be attending. So either we’re hanging out in the woods of Southern Illinois the weekend of the 22nd or we’ll be doing it the weekend of the 29th.

2 dogs will also be in attendance this year as I work to train them to get used to such things.

Even though last year was smeared on by a person’s personal bullshit, the wish ritual was a success (as always) and this past year has been fairly fruitful. I’m not sure what wish I shall cast this year.

That is all.

Allthing Kinsouth – it’s over y’all….

And we had a good time!

We had such a good time we forgot to take a lot of pictures. LOL!

We hung around the fire, we talked, we had an nice wish ritual, and the mead making was a success. We did at least get some pictures of the mead making.

We didn’t get to have an effigy, but our flaming phoenix time around the campfire turned into a flaming phoenix contest. Saraen won, even though I cheated in proper evil fashion.

Here are the pictures from the mead making.

In the front: me, stirring the mead as it cooked first. In the background: Saraen and her husband Noah. This was Noah’s second Kinsouth.  He didn’t earn a nickname this year – I mean other than the kind you give someone for the moment – but he will have his chance. He shall have his chance, indeed.

My husband Tim in the middle, you already know Saraen and Noah. That’s my head with the scarf on. Rebecca is sitting by the door. This means Choshu must have been taking the picture.

I’m not sure why we have a photo of the kitchen, but there it is….

From the mead before we put in the yeast we took out a bottle, corked it, and set it aside. It shall be watched, coddled, and monitored over the year. It’s fate is to become our opening glass of drink when we hold next year’s opening Thing.
